The Falls Research Facility: Environment Piece

This building is a futuristic redesign of the Ruby Falls building in Chattanooga. The real-life tourist attraction takes guests down into the caves below the building where they then get out and walk to the waterfall within the cave. For this redesign, I wanted to turn the attraction into a scientific research facility, and I wanted to keep a part of the name, so I called the facility "The Falls." Here the scientists research and study various parts of the cave below. The building is also powered by a variety of solar panels situated around the building. As with the first project, I began with a sketch, but this time I utilized Maya to create the rough shape of the building and the surrounding environment in order to make sure that my perspective looked good. I then sketched over the rough building and environment shapes by sketching over a PNG of my camera view in Maya utilizing that initial sketch design that I did first on paper. After that, I cleaned up my lines in Illustrator and then colored the piece in Photoshop. Also included here is a progression video showing my process from the start to the finish.
